Purina Mills, LLC announced a voluntary recall of 50-pound bags of Strategy Professional Formula GX Horse Feed and Layena SunFresh Recipe Pellet Poultry Feed after metal fragments were detected in a limited number of bags.
To date, Purina Mills has received five customer complaints. However, no reports of animal illness have been reported.
The recalled products were manufactured in Nashville on March 24-25, 2010. They were shipped to retailers and dealers in Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Virginia.
The FDA News Release has a list of specific products affected by the recall and corresponding lot numbers.
Customers who have any of the recalled products are asked to return the unused product to their dealer for a free replacement.
